Hi Ian, just to let you know that Chris had a stroke on Saturday and is in hospital. He is making steady progress although it will be some time before he is back to normal. He’s still his normal cheeful(?) self and is working hard at the physio to get the strength back to his right side. I hope you are all well. Love Rowena

Hi Rowena
That’s terrible news, he will hate being incapacitated in any way at all.
Chris is one of my favourite people, I have to admit to not liking many people these days but seeing Chris again when he came up recently was really great.
Please pass on my best to him and remind him that he needs strength in his arm in order to lift a whiskey glass so the physio is really important!
Hope you’re coping OK. Did you move yet? Let me have new address when you get a chance please.
We would like to send a card if you could let me have the details of hospital , ward etc Chris is in ?
Take care of yourself and please keep me updated, maybe I’ll be able to chat to him on phone when he’s up to it.

Hi Ian,
He’s in Clyst Ward, Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford), Barrack road, Exeter, EX2 5DW. The plan is for him to come home on Wednesday and he will have care visits morning and evening and a therapy visit at some point during the day. You will be amazed to learn that he has given up drinking! – he hasn’t had a drink since 1st Jan. To complicate things we are in the hopefully final legal stages for our move. Everything is pretty much agreed with our buyers, all the legal stuff for our purchase has been done (most of it last year as we are managing to buy the place we wanted originally), our vendors have everything sorted with the place they are buying so it’s just the two at the top of the chain that we are waiting for. The estate agent reckons we will move around the end of May and as we didn’t unpack fully after the last aborted move and we have got rid of even more since then, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. I;ll let you have the new address once we have exchanged contracts (don’t want to risk jinxing anything).
Take care

Hi Ian, Chris came home from hospital yesterday and is settling in well. He’s having 3 visits a day for care and therapy so it’s now just continuing his recovery.
Take care
