There are more and more places nowadays that claim to be dog friendly, but the real test of this is how they treat solo travelers who have a dog.

Although the risk of dogs being stolen has declined since the pandemic when there was such a high demand for dogs, the fear of them being stolen is still high and I, and many others, are no longer prepared to take the risk of leaving them unattended in the car.

If you stop at a motorway service station, there is often a dog walk, outside seating and either a booth or a drive through where you can get food and drink. But what if you are travelling by yourself with a dog and want to use the toilet?

There are cafes that allow dogs in their outside seating area but don’t have waitress service – how are you supposed to order your drink if you are by yourself with a dog?
