We don’t often stay at hotels with the dogs, preferring self catering, but on occasion it is nice to treat yourself but also be confident that your dogs will be properly welcome.

A gorgeous (but expensive) spa hotel which we visited for my 60th birthday, our anniversary and when I completed my PGCE. Unfortunately, since then, the prices have rocketed.
Totally dog friendly – the first time we stayed Splash had an upset stomach during the night which, despite all our efforts, left a stain on the carpet. The lady on reception could not have been nicer – her first thought was for how Splash was, rather than the hotel carpets. The grounds are lovely and the spa is wonderful – full size swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, sauna and so on.

Brilliantly dog friendly hotel above the beach at Scarborough. Dogs are allowed pretty much everywhere – certainly into the lounge and restaurant and they are really well catered for.
When we got to our room in the attic, there were two pieces of vet bed for them and a lobster soft toy each. The lounge has help yourself drinks and dog biscuits available free 24 hours a day plus free cake at 4pm.
The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful and clearly love dogs.

The Falmouth Hotel
Dog friendly hotel overlooking castle beach with good grounds and lovely walks along the seafront.

The Inn in the park, Branksome
We booked via Expedia and so didn’t see on the website that only one dog was allowed. I had rung to check and someone had said 2 Goldies was fine and so we were Ok when we arrived. The pub has 5 rooms – ours was a little tired, especially the bathroom but perfectly adequate for our needs and less than 1/2 mile walk to Branksome Dene beach which is dog friendly all year.
Breakfast is 9:00 – 9:30 and was very good and access out of pub hours is via the fire escape. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
The Old Success Inn, Sennen Cove, TR19 7DG
Lovely dog friendly hotel just metres from the beach and South West Coast Path.
The ground floor rooms in the new block are dog friendly although you are warned that rooms are on the ground floor next to an outside dining area. and there maybe some noise during the day and evening.
Dog beds, bowls, goody bag and a towel to wipe their paws are all provided and although dogs are not allowed in the restaurant, they are allowed in the bar and you have have breakfast there. Really good choice of cooked breakfasts including gluten free options.

Travelodges
We stayed in the Paignton Travelodge for 2 nights in January 2022 with both the dogs. The Travelodge is on Marine Drive so almost opposite the beach.
Travelodge is about the only hotel chain that accepts dogs (£20 per dog) and quite a few of the people staying there did have dogs. They were not allowed in the restaurant but there was a small table with 2 chairs in the lobby where we could sit with the dogs after collecting our breakfast from the dining room.
The rooms are quite basic and you wouldn’t really want to spend the whole evening in one but they are cheap and have everything you need.
