Walks and attractions
New Forest, Hampshire / Wiltshire
With 219 sq miles encompassing forest, heathland and coast, there are plenty of places to walk and attractions to visit in the New Forest. The ponies are very decorative but make sure your dogs are under control around them. There are several caravan sites on the Forest and being able to take your dogs out onto open forest first thing is fantastic.

Caravan and Motorhome Club
A site set in the midst of the New Forest with 130 pitches. There is no dog walk on site – just a dog pit stop but once you are out of the gate you are in the middle of forest and open ground with a stream nearby. Just watch out for the New Forest ponies.

Caravan and Motorhome Club
Well set out site with two enclosed dog walks. The smaller one is a loop around a stand of trees near the entrance and is ideal for a short walk before bedtime. The other is a large enclosed field with a mixture of long and short grass.

Forest lodge, Furze Hill near Fordingbridge

Lovely lodge set in the owner’s grounds but quite separate and private. Equipped with everything you need and with access onto the common from behind the lodge. A small enclosed garden and dogs are allowed to run free in the rest of the grounds as long as they don’t chase deer.

Newlands Farm, Odiham, RG29 1JD
We spent 3 nights here, taking over the 3 bedroomed barn which is beautifully light, airy and well equipped. All 3 bedrooms are en-suite as they can be booked individually and you then have use of the shared kitchen and living room.
Mary was extremely welcoming and provided breakfast for us to cook in the barn. The barn is surrounded by fields and we were lucky that when we stayed, there were no sheep in the field outside the barn and we were able to let the dogs off.
